hat does being brave look like to you?
Each day we all face trials and situations. Some leave us fearful. As a Christian, it is important, no vital, to daily remind ourselves that God is NOT the author of fear. Satan is. Scripture tells us the enemy is out to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). Just reading that can make one fearful. But Jesus said, “Fear not for I have overcome the world”, (John 16:33). He tells us we will have tribulation so why are we surprised, anxious, or worried when we do?
According to a CBN article there are over 365 fear nots in the Bible. That is at least one “fear not” per day! WOW. God knew that in our flesh we would fear, be anxious and worry when “life” happens.
I had the privilege to be a contributing author in the book, THE ART OF BRAVE LIVING. I wrote of a season in my life that was full of fear. During this season and many others, I have had to “do the right thing” regardless of my fear.
Doing the right thing to me is doing as Christ would want me to do in situations that I face. Even when society doesn’t agree. Especially when society doesn’t agree. I am not out to win others’ approval.
I am here to serve Christ. In so doing, I will fail, I will sin, I will repent, and get up and plunge ahead. But I will always love my neighbor. I will always advocate for those that have no voice. I will claim scriptures daily that tell me not to fear. In fact, my goal is to memorize one “fear not” scripture per day, as the Bible says, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee”(Psalms 199:11).
What is your favorite “fear not” verse? What does being brave look like to you?
